International Renewable Energy Technology Institute’s System for Technology Transfer (IRETI-STTSM)

We are pleased to announce the launch of the International Renewable Energy Technology Institute’s System for Technology Transfer (IRETI-STT) that marks the beginning of the groundbreaking technology transfer work between Sweden and the United States. IRETI-STT is a result of the U.S. Ambassador to Sweden, Michael Wood’s, “One Big Thing Initiative” (see the attached press release). In support of Ambassador Wood’s initiative, IRETI-STT has developed a central mission to create a systematic technology transfer approach to forging lasting partnerships and collaborations between businesses, communities, countries, and continents. Increasing demand for clean and renewable sources of energy, paired with the institute’s system for enabling technology transfer, will result in accelerated consumer adoption and implementation of renewable energy solutions from around the world. Most importantly, the system bolsters access to innovative technology and creates new markets for companies.

IRETI-STT has three strategic components (see IRETI-STT organization chart below):
1. International Renewable Technology Institute (IRETI)
2. Technology transfer service (ÄFAB-USA in partnership with The BioBusiness Alliance of Minnesota)
3. International Bioenergy Days Congress (IBED)

The combination of the academic, private sector and government involvement makes a very powerful international organization to support technology integration into alternative energy production. This system will first be visible at the IBED Congress. IBED is focused on implementation of “application ready technologies” and has two primary goals:
1. Provide a venue where Swedish companies can come together with American companies and companies from other countries, to create business relationships that have immediate applicability and mutual economic and social benefit.
2. Provide a venue where global communities can come together with companies for mutually beneficial relationships that will result in realistic implementation strategies for communities and growth of new markets for clean and renewable product manufacturers.

We would like to extend an invitation to attend the IBED congress that will be held in Minnesota in September 28th to October 3rd, 2008. We are certain you will not be disappointed, and are confident that you will meet potential business partners and communities that are in need of your help and are anxious to meet you.

Winston Churchill once said, “Americans always try to do the right thing -- after they've tried everything else”. In America today there is a strong awareness and understanding of the urgency the world is facing. There is a hunger and a need to begin implementation of renewable and clean technologies. Sweden recognized this need and the opportunities that can be derived from this strategy 20 years ago. America did not. Today the United States is reaching out across oceans and borders to form partnerships that will help to accelerate doing “the right thing”. Companies from Sweden have an opportunity today to take advantage of this movement in the United States in a manner that has never existed before. Those of us who have been partnering to form IRETI-STT are prepared and committed to help those who need help to be successful in entering the U.S. market.

Respectfully,

Dale Wahlstrom, CEO of BioBusiness Alliance of Minnesota
Dr. John Frey, Minnesota State University, Mankato
Dr. Pardeep Haldar, New York State University, Albany
Bengt-Erik Lofgren, CEO of ÄFAB
